GA4 Event Tracking Setup

If your website analytics aren't tracking the right actions, the data you’re looking at won’t reflect what’s actually happening on your website. That means missed insights, unreliable reporting, and poor decisions.

I set up GA4 event tracking so you can clearly see how people are interacting with your site, whether that’s form submissions, calls, downloads, or other key actions. The result is clean, reliable data you can trust so that your reporting makes sense, and your marketing decisions are based on what’s really driving results.

One-off projects costs depend on scope of the project, the size of your site, what events need to be tracked and the complexity of each. Once we've finalised the details of the data you need, I can provide a quote.

Key Trackable Actions

Understand exactly how people interact with your website.

File downloads

What files are people downloading?

Telephone calls

Do your users prefer to call rather than email? Which numbers do they call?

Form submissions

How many forms are submitted and how did those people came to the website?

How much money did your website make, what were your big sellers, what ads drove sales?

Purchases
Email clicks

Which email addresses were clicked and how many times?

Video views

Are people watching your videos? Which ones? How long for?

Step One

We'll identify what events you want to track on your website and what, if any, tracking is currently in place. I'll look into the best way to track these events (with as much futureproofing as possible) and then provide a clear project scope and fixed fee for the work.

Step Two

Once the project outline is approved by you, I'll set up the event tracking (typically using Google Tag Manager), along with any required customisations and labelling. Next comes robust testing to make sure everything is correct before sign off.

Step Three

I'll provide full documentation of what has been set up (so you or other members of your team aren't left guessing what does what in a few years time!) and instructions on how to monitor and report on these new events going forward.

With this event tracking in place, you can see which audiences are taking the most valuable actions on your website, which channels produce the most "valuable" traffic, and where people are dropping out of your purchase or lead funnel. These tracked website events can also form the basis of monthly reports or the foundation of good performance marketing.
