Performance Marketing FAQs

How much do I need to spend on ads?

This very much depends on who and what you are targeting, as well as what you want to achieve. I generally recommend a minimum ad spend per month of £500 but we can discuss what figure suits your goals, audience and budget.

Who pays Google or Meta for the ads? Is it me or you?

As the business owner/representative, you will pay the pay-per-click spend directly to the platform (Google, Meta etc). This way you will maintain complete ownership of the advertising account which allows for maximum flexibility in the future and ensures that you will retain all of your results and data.

How quickly will I see results?

While it's impossible to say with certainty, paid advertising generally delivers quick results - typically within days or weeks depending on how much refining and tweaking is required to the ads. It's often described as a tap, where you turn it on and off and, unlike longer term activity like SEO, you see the impact right away.

Which platforms do you support?

I primarily focus on Google Ads (Search, Display, Performance Max) and Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram). These platforms offer the most robust targeting for reach, lead generation, sales and other common goals, ensuring we reach your ideal clients efficiently. I also offer LinkedIn campaign audits, creation and ongoing management for businesses with a specific B2B offer.

What if I've tried paid ads before but they didn't work?

There are lots of reasons that paid ads can fail to generate results. The most commons reasons I see for this are lack of tracking (failing to follow up on what users do on your website after they click your ad), poor targeting (either targeting the wrong people or targeting them at the wrong stage of the user journey), and poor landing pages (you ads and targeting can be perfection but if they lead to a broken or confusing webpage then you'll lost the visitor). I'll review every step of the advertising journey - from preparation to ad campaign creation to website activity and follow up - as part of my work.

How does AI impact paid advertising?

AI Search mode in Google has impacted traffic to websites, however this traffic is typically made up of what we call "informational" search queries; people asking questions and looking for an answer, not a service. Paid advertising can waste a lot of money by paying to bring traffic that is highly unlikely to convert to a website. Through careful keyword research and targeting, I avoid wasting budget on these clicks and focusing on high-intent search terms. Many ad platforms offer AI targeting and ad creation, however I advise caution with these features because they tend to make targeting very broad where not carefully managed and can easily blow through your pay-per-click budget if you aren't careful.

A Winning Combination...

PPC advertising is great for getting people to your site, but what happens once they're there? How many book or buy? Which search terms generate the most leads? Google Ads and GA4 go hand in hand, so making sure your Analytics account is optimised is another piece of the puzzle.

Some PPC experts will say getting ad clicks means their job is done, but my expertise in the wider Google systems means I can help you see the bigger picture of paid advertising, as well as spot the additional marketing opportunities for you to pick up on.
